How to Start Your Challenge.

Updated: Aug 11, 2021

Here are the instructions for starting your challenge. There are 7 "rules" or steps to complete everyday. I have them listed below along with their instructions. Good luck!

#1: Journal everyday

- Everyday you should start your journaling by writing down what you want out of everyday. This could be as simple as an emotion like "happiness" or "peace," or you could pick something more specific like "I want to conquer one fear today."

- Next you should pick two questions that relate to your areas of personal growth everyday. For example, mine were "How did I voice my opinion today?" and "How did I stand up for myself (or others) today?" If you need help coming up with questions for your specific struggle areas, contact me and I'd be glad to help :)

- Next you ask yourself what you are struggling with that day and how you will fix it. This is useful because not only does it force us to face our problems, it makes us find practical solutions to improve. (Example: today I struggled with completing school work, tomorrow I will make a schedule for schoolwork).

- Next you should ask what you could have done better that day. Some days you will feel like you did the absolute best, and other days you will feel like you need to write a whole essay about how you could have done better. Either way, sometimes we don't realize how we could have done better until we reflect on our days.

- Next you should write down what you are grateful for. Even on our worst days, there are always things to be thankful for. This helps create a better perspective on our lives.

- Lastly, you should write down what God is telling you that day or what he is putting on your heart. This will require you to pause and listen before answering this question. These are my favorite to look back on and see how his words were fulfilled.

Overall, you should have 7 journal bullet points. (Personal growth questions are separate)

#2 Stick to a gym plan

It doesn't matter how advanced or frequent you choose, but whatever you choose you must stay consistent with it for the entirety of the challenge. I have my workout split posted on my website, and I'd be glad to personalize one for you also.

#3 Stick to a diet

Similar to the gym, it doesn't matter what diet you pick as long as you stick with it. It could be a specific number of calories, tracking your macros, or even just giving up one food item. Whatever you pick, don't starve yourself lol food is essential. I also have diet tips and recipes posted on my website.

#4 Read everyday

I recommend picking four books. One book to help your personal growth, one Christian/spiritual book, one to teach you something new, and one just for fun. If you look at my 90 day story posted on my website I have the links to the books that I picked. Again, I am always available if you need help picking books.\

#5 Spend time with God everyday

There isn't a rule to this, as long as you intentionally set apart time for only you and God. I start my worship time with prayer, praise and worship songs, scripture or devotional reading, and then ending with prayer journaling. I would love to help you find a devotion or Bible study. My worship playlist is also posted on my website.

#6 Drink a gallon of water everyday

Water is great for you y'all lol. It will clear your skin, boost your metabolism, and prevent you from getting dehydrated during workouts. I have a gallon water bottle that I carry around. His name is Ptoughney (toe-knee). You get bonus points if you name yours. You can buy a gallon water bottle on amazon.

#7 Take a picture or video everyday

These could be gym progress pictures, pictures of something fun you did, or even a picture of you having a mental breakdown lolol. Whatever it is, these are awesome ways to look at all you have accomplished. They are great for motivation if you need to remind yourself of where you started. They are also just really great memories to have. You could take them on a polaroid and put them on your wall, you could make a snapchat private story, you could start an iMovie project, or you could just make a "90 days" photo album.

More advice and tips are all in the "My 90 Day Story" blog on my website. You got this!
